Helping French companies to develop

Total Développement Régional supports regional economic development and accompanies entrepreneurs in their projects, with one ambition: to create and maintain sustainable employment in France.

In France, Total Développement Régional fosters and supports projects to create, take over, and develop SME and helps them turn international networks into a lever for growth. Total take actions to catalyze and diversify the economic and industrial activities of labor pools in which the Group is reorganizing, and to accompany the transition over time.

Total Développement Régional (TDR) acts through three main systems:

Corporate finance

TDR provides financial support to SME, which represent almost 50% of paid employment in France. They are offered zero interest and insecured loans of 20,000 to 100,000 euros and reimbursable over 3 to 5 years, for their projects to start, develop or take over companies, either in France or internationally.

Backing industrial projects

Total is a responsible industrial player and anticipates its own industrial transformations and their impacts on related territories.

In practice, TDR accompanies the Group’s operational branches to execute redeployment actions that can cover:

  • Construction and negotiation of agreements with the French State and the public authorities.
  • Preparation of the outsourcing impact diagnosis and the construction of a guidance plan.
  • Structuring platforms (appeal, induction offers, etc.) and the search for and guidance of third-party industrial projects liable to be set up in such facilities.
  • Support for the economic development of territories and regional SME through TDR support systems (financial loans, backing for Innovative SME, and help with export so that French SMEs can expand internationally).

These actions must factor in the specificities of the future projects for the Total platform and endeavor to meet the expectations of the stakeholders. TDR also provides its knowledge of the territory and stakeholders.

Supporting entrepreneurs internationally

TDR assists French SME and MSB seeking international development to achieve their ambitions by:

  • Hosting VIE (Volunteers for International Experience) or SME employees in the Group’s 130 affiliates worldwide.
  • Collective prospection missions and help with export, mobilizing the Group’s international affiliates and their networks.
